Walking Excursions
 
 

Take a Woodland Stroll Or	This area of Killarney is a walkers paradise and there are woodland and lakeshore walks right from the door of Ross Castle Lodge where the noble Irish Red Deer roam wild and free.  These shy beauties date back to the ice age and have become extinct in Ireland except in Killarney.
Take an Exhilarating Lake Shore Walk by the  Prehistoric Copper Mines Or	The love scenes in the classic film 'Ryans Daughter' were shot in the woods here at Ross.
Amble along the woodland path to Killarney town and browse the shops	Enjoy the vibrant night life with Irish music galore and an abundance of good restaurants.

Boat Trips
 
 

Why not combine a boat trip through these fabulously beautiful lakes with a jaunting car ride through the Gap of Dunloe	Or hire a bike, take it on board and from the upper lake, cycle home through the black valley and Gap of Dunloe. A day to remember and at a reasonable cost too!
Lake Cruising A cruise on Lough Leane is a must.  Take a lake cruiser from the pier at Ross Castle.

Staigue Fort

Ross Castle Lodge is an ideal central base to tour the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle Peninsula, outer Killarney and the Ring of West Cork (the Beara Peninsula).  Staigue Fort is a several-thousand-year-old fort and is one of the stops you can make on the Ring of Kerry. Or if you would prefer to leave your car behind, tours can be arranged at Ross Castle Lodge.

Horse Riding & Fishing
 

Horse riding, trout and salmon fishing can be arranged.

Other Activities

Ross Golf Club is only a short walk from Ross Castle Lodge.  Other golf clubs are a short drive away

For the hiker, there are several trails in the area.  The McGillicuddy Reeks (a mountain range containing Irelands highest mountain) are close and many hikers also walk the Old Kenmare Road, an 8 mile trek through wonderful scenery.
